20 My son, keep the commandments of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother.

12–22 Der Lehrer der Weisheit kennt die Vorstellungskünste vieler, die uns mit Worten oder Mienenspiel verführen wollen (V. 12.13), dann gibt es plötzlich hinterher ein schreckliches Erwachen. Er nennt aber auch den tieferen Grund für solche Haltung: Eitelkeit, Falschheit und Freude am Unruhestiften. Daran knüpft er aufs neue den Rat, sich nur nach Gottes Geboten zu richten und sie bei Tag und Nacht zu bewegen (V. 20ff.).
